The Kiwanis International Foundation was established as a legal
entity in 1939. When Kiwanis International celebrated its 25th
anniversary one year later, Kiwanian Walter Zeller donated 25 silver
dollars in hopes that these would be auctioned to provide a “nest egg”
for the Foundation. Thankfully, the nest egg netted US$625 and the
Foundation’s worldwide service began.
From those humble
beginnings, the Kiwanis International Foundation has grown to a
multimillion-dollar foundation providing grants to thousands of
organizations worldwide aimed at making better the lives of children.
Thus, our mission – “to assist Kiwanis International in serving the
children of the world” – is our priority.
The Kiwanis
International Foundation is on the threshold of one of the most
exciting periods in our history. Powerful forces are reshaping the
landscape of children’s issues, and we are responding by remaining
focused on our mission, strengthening our programs, and securing the
resources needed to meet these challenges and excel.
The
Kiwanis International Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3)
organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
